This is a great idea and I'm so glad you built it! My kids are incoming CISD kindergarteners and I'm looking forward to getting more involved with supporting teachers, attending board meetings, etc.
Hi! I was ordering some things from teachers' lists and came across a teacher that doesn't have an address attached to her registry. I know this is a common problem with this method of donating, and I'd hate for a teacher to not get their list filled because of an oversight. Is there a way to add a feature where shoppers can report if a teacher's list doesn't have an address and therefore can't be filled? Thanks!
That's a good idea and I'll think about ways that can be done. One of the primary things I wanted to stay away from was having the app email teachers for any reason other than confirming their registry, and if we add a notification process that is initiated from the app, then it could be spammed or taken advantage of in a bad way. The quick solution is to look them up in the district registry and email them directly I suppose.
Hmm, I didn't think about the risk for spam. What about adding information to the teacher submission page that reminds teachers to add a registry address if they want items sent to them directly? I've seen "clear the registry" campaigns where the organizer constantly reshares that information as the campaign goes on. Annoying to implement for a social media hosted campaign, but maybe not so hard to implement on an app? Teachers can be reminded that their registry address is kept private from the senders during checkout (it just says their name and city). I guess teachers could assume parents could drop off items to them at the school, but I know I like to fill items on random teachers' lists and I don't want to track them down in person (or ask my kindergartener to carry a giant box of snacks into the school haha). Glad you created this app. I really love how easy it is to support our local teachers.
I'll think more about what we can do for the mailing address. I did just launch a new feature to add their list anonymously. There were already a few teachers after the first day of school who said their principals do not allow external sharing of wish lists, so an anonymous feature seemed in order.
